So finally it hit me , one of my sites lost all it PR’s (Page ranks for those who don’t know what pr stand for)

From Wikipedia :

PageRank is a link analysis algorithm that assigns a numerical weighting to each element of a hyperlinked set of documents, such as the World Wide Web, with the purpose of “measuring” its relative importance within the set

Do i care ?

Not at all , page rank is not important in my eyes , it was few years ago … when the price of a link on a website was related to it’s page rank .

Thanks GOD its not that way anymore and it’s more related to the numbers of visitors you get on your site and the quality of the traffic .

Will i continue selling links ?

Yes , i will and i wont care if google is not happy about it , they sell links on other websites , so do i

If we dont monetize our websites how will they survive and continue growing ?

Why is Google doing that ?

Because one of their SERP (Seach Engine Result Pages) methods to determine which sites is placed first is the “Backlinks factor” so if a sites has a link back from a university site it’s way better than having a link back from chaaban.info (since for google a university web is more trusted than mine … universities will get much more than i do)

so where is the problem ?

Spammers tried to game the system and bought links on other websites with specific keywords , the act of buying the link in the eyes of Google is unknown the search engine .
