Join The Canadian Army
Today i assisted to an information meeting in the Canadian army Center .
It was kind of cool , Sergent Leblanc gave the information .
A lot of point were made :
- You get a lot of money when you join the army .
- You get money by doing minimal stuff .
- You get money by doing nothing .
- You get your University loan paid by joining the Canadian army .
As You can see most of the points are related to money … Even if it’s the main reason for me joining the army … but come on ! Army is fun , you learn and you get paid , you do sports and get paid ….
Let’s stop here
i ‘m not enrolled yet , there is like 3 exams that i have to pass to be able to enroll in the army .
- Math , French , Logic exams .
- Sports & Endurance Exam .
- Medical Exam .
- Interview .
I will see how to manage my life being a student at full time in Master in Computer Science , part time student in a minor , working on online projects for US based companies , managing my websites

Hello i’m interested in joining the infantry fulltime but i’m wondering about this, do you have to know both english and french?(I only know english) Also i take it that you would want to do better htan the required for push-ups, etc… Also if you have slight athsma (mine is pretty much gone now) can you still get in?
I have hepititis B, can i still join the Canadian Army. I was hoping to join part-time to help me with my schooling. I am taking a trade right now so i hope i can do that in the army. Last time when i try to apply i couldn’t because of Hep B. I thinks that is a bad reason not to let some1 join the Forces.
Thankx
im currently serving in this britsh army but would like to join the canadian army. what are the chances???? me and my family would love to immigrate but dont know where to start!!!!!
Hello,
BMQ for reg force is only done in saint-jean..
Everybody with basic questions on joining, don’t bug Chaaban, bug your recruiting centre or the online recruiter chat at recruiting.forces.gc.ca
If you’re looking for tips on BMQ and stuff, then chaaban is a good source:)

My son 3 years ago did an application for the army and he mentioned he had a mild case of asthma when he was very young. The army asked for his medical records and based on this refused his entry. My son now has 2 years of college and wishes to pursue the Royal Military School which requires you to join the army and I’m wondering if you have been refused once based on a childhood asthma incident will you be able to reapply. He is extremely healthy and has never been held back on sports, work etc.
I appreciate any information, prior to his attempts to reapply!
I’m a gf of a British soldier of 8years. We think of relocating to Canada and he thinks of joining the army. He does have an application already and we know basically everything there is to know apart from one thing. Does he need to live in the barracks if working full time for the army? Thanks a lot!
TAPIA, here’s my tip, call your recruiting centre every now and then(like every month or so) to stay updated with everything, plus calling them reminds you that 1: you exist, and 2: you care, just dont call them too much to make it annoying, remember you can make or break your application with how the recruiters view you
ojo adeoyo, yes someone can, the recruiters, they know everything more than we do, its their job to know it and to help you know it, trust them.
Besides if you can’t trust even the recruiters than how can you trust joining the army?:P
Heather: I know someone who has asthma now and by going to see his doctor and appealing the decision was able to prove that he’s in condition to join, get your son to see a qualified specialist and get that specialist to prove that your son is right for the job, remember the medical test you do with the army during your application is simply a preliminary view of how you are.
Eve: I don’t know, my brother in law was full time and he was at the base/base area during the week(the base is a few hours drive away) and on weekends he would drive back to the city and spend it with us
I am a Jamaican and I am interested in Joining the Canadian Army I am not a citizen .How do I go about trying to do so?
I am currently a serving Warrant Officer in the British Army in Afghanistan. After speaking to Canadian soldiers I want to know the procedures of transferinginto your Armed Forces.
Many Thanks.
If you have not gone to the units before you hit the papers is that a problem? I just want to join the reserves and be in the
infantry. Is that a problem, do they randomly give you a unit in that case?
Anyone who has questions about joining either the Primary Reserves or the Regular Force in the Canadian Forces should go to forces.ca. It’s an excellent site, that will answer all of your questions, including about pay and benefits and information on the different trades. Having served 16 years myself, both in the reserves and reg force, it’s an excellent opportunity!! Most major cities have a recruiting centre, and reserve units, you should be able to find the numbers in the Blue pages of your phonebook, or on the site. I think you can also apply on line. For everyone who is not a Canadian Citizen, you must be a Canadian Citizen to join, or at the very least have a Landed Immigrant status (permanent resident) to be considered. William, I actually know a couple of people who came from the British Army, who are now serving in the Canadian Forces. At any rate, if you have any questions at all, visit that site, and good luck!!!

Hi, I applied to Military Police back in late December 2008. I recieved a call today from the Canadian Forces inviting me to what I’m assuming is my BMQ week. I will be attending it in base Borden, Ontario from Feb 24 – Mar 4. Does anyone know what happens next?
I am going to join the reserves very soon ( I turn sixteen in ten days). I am sooo nervous about this. I want to go in, and become a Infantry Soldier. However, I am wondering. I read on the site forces.ca that you do a few tests, and a career consellor with select what you would be most suited for. I don’t want to do anything else besides Infantry. I don’t want to be a Artillery Soldier or anything like that. I am worried that if I go into the Reserves they are going to pick a occupation that I don’t like/don’t want to do. When you go to apply, do you get a chance to tell them that you want to be an Infantry soldier? (I just don’t want to go there, and have them say “Oh yeah, we’re going to make you a cook.” Instead of what I want.
Please get back to me as soon as you can. Thanks!
E.Stone : After BMQ there is the Soldier Qualification course after that the trade course i suppose (Military Police) , search my site for more info about SQ
Ryan : no , you are the only person able to tell what you want , if you want to join the infantry you will be able to join it (if you pass all tests of courses … don’t worry)
im interested in joining the canadian army can you tell me the procedures
Hey everybody, I threw in an application for the CF army in September. I’m still not in today due to some medical obstacles I had to get out of the way first such as my oral surgery, and I have surgery on my thoracic cavity March 5th. Until the second surgery is overwith, I’ll be extremely driven to continue my application process. The reason why I’m waiting for the 2nd surgery to be done and for myself to be healed is because it’ll actually help me A LOT with my physical fitness. Currently I’m already fit, however I’d like to push my physical endurance even further to be sure to get through BMQ, etc easily.
So, what I’ve gone through so far is my CFAT, which I did pass, as well as my medical. However, for my medical I had to obtain some information from my family doctor due to my hypothyroid condition. So, like I’ve mentioned above, I decided to just wait until I completely get my questionable medical facts out of the way. I still have to complete my PT test.
I’m a high school student, and the recruiting office told me that I’d be able to get into the fall BMQ. However, I’m concerned about keeping my grades up in school, and I would like to know if taking a BMQ in the fall would at all affect my marks in school. Can anyone tell me which days/weekends am I to go for BMQ training, and how long it’ll take?
Thanks a lot.
Any additional info or advice is also greatly appreciated.
After months of waiting to get into the reserves I’m finally in. Now here’s the kicker, I’ve been feeling over the last little while that I don’t think I want to do this because it’s not really for me. Now I’m actually in though, haven’t started a BMQ or anything I just got sworn in a week or two ago. Did I wait to long to back out or can I still pretty much quit the reserves (I’m only in part time) I’m just turned 17 and realized it’s not what I’m ready for right now. How do I go about getting out of it, and hopefully it’s not to late or anything like that for me to get out
for zaza: You only need to speak 1 of our official language to join But you need to be a canadian citizen to join our forces
i filed for bankruptcy and have just been discharged. I wish to join the army full time within the next year, am I automatically disqualified for the bad credit i now have? or will that not effect me at all? i wish i thought about this sooner.lol. i really want to become a medical technician and now im not even sure if i should continue to bother applying due to the whole bankrupt thing any help would be appreciated.
hi Chaaban. ..I was just wondering what kind of interview questions i will be having. Any input??? And are they easy or hard like a job interview??? Can you please give me a heads up on this one..thank you…
Chaaban, how are you doing in the army, are you done all your training yet?
and thanks for all the info, lots of help.
Chaaban please answer my question
Have you had any blood tests at all during you’re military career? And if so at what point during the career?
Hey man, id like to know if theres a blood test in the infantry career. and if so how many and when during the career(bmq etc..) Thanks.
Hello, I have been looking over your site, (the Canadian Forces stuff) and I am just wondering if joining is really everything you thought it would be? Is the pay really as good as what you thought it would be? Is the regular force training different than the reserves(other than being longer)? Either way I am going to apply this coming winter, but I really just want to know what to expect.
hi there can anyone help me join the candain army …i have five years experince as a police officer in saint lucia and would like to join the Military police in the army. whts the procedure
Hey chaaban, I have my aptitude test tomorrow and assuming I pass my medical some time after that, I used to smoke pot about 3 times a week, I have been off it now for about 2-3 weeks (when i put my application in) I am very nervous, this is my dream career and i am scared that the urine test will still detect the drug. I have a very high metabolism, and have been taking Daily Detox pills to flush my system out, I really want to pass, but I don’t want to use any 2-5 hour clean urine drinks or anything like that…(im assuming they will know) My question was, if I tell them that yes I smoked pot occasionally almost a month ago, will they still accept me? PS i have been physically active in sports all through highschool and go for a job every day.
Any feedback would be much appreciated.
Hi i am 17 and i am british, i have been living in canada for 6years now and i really want to take army co-op for grade 12, i am a permenant resident and landed immigrantis there a way i can join before i get my citizenship?
Also when you apply for your citizenship how long do you have to wait until u hear back from them?
How will Bad Credit effect your application?
chaaban buddy ive been considering joining the artilery feild soldier in the canadian reserves…i am 16 soon to be 17 and i would like to know how did you complete your BMQ, ive had a friend doing his bmq on weekdays and weekends off or vice versa…i am very interested in this, after your bmq do you get anything special E.g. PAL, or drivers licences etc….and whats the pay like i my self will be paying bills at about 500-600 a month…and what ive been told you get 86$ a day? and it goes up the farther you go into training?…also ive havent completed high school and heard you could do that through the millitary but other than that thats all i have to ask thanks
Codywade
Good information here chaaban thanks! I wonder though if others actually read the entire thing before asking if they could join the Canadian Forces (not being a Canadian citizen) I think I read at least 10 times NO YOU CAN NOT! So other than skipping through the redundant questions in which I do not blame you for not answering the zillion times they where asked! Good job… that is all I wanted to convey!
Cheers!
I would like to know the same this a schanbo- I have just been discharged from bankruptcy last month- so i am now debt free. but the bankruptcy stays on my credit report for 7 years. can I go ahead and join the military or no?
going BANKO doesn’t make you debt free. It makes you a Bad Risk. it will stay on your credit report for 7 years but it takes time before any creditor will lend you any money because of your risk…. then it takes up to 2 years to restablish a good history.
No body wants a Bad Risk….
YOU SAID: “for push up for men (under 35 years) it’s 19 Push ups, 19 Sit ups , Hand Grip (kilograms) 75 , 2.4 km Run in less than 12 minutes .” Is the 75 kilogram handgrip for both hands combined or just in one hand. I can do the 19 pushups and situps but not the 75 kilo’s in one hand.
i apply for canadian army
